BBC's global news audiences increase to record 265 million


New figures show the BBC’s global audience has increased to a record-breaking 265m people a week. The figures, for 2013/14, represent an increase of 9 million people on the previous year. The Global Audience Estimate (GAE) measures the combined reach of the BBC’s international services - BBC World Service, BBC World News, bbc.com/news and BBC Media Action - across the world. Global bbc.com figures and Twitter shares hit record high


The BBC announced that bbc.com reached a record 96 million unique users and generated an all-time high of 1.3 billion page views in March 2014. BBC World News welcomed its five millionth Facebook fan and new figures also reveal that the BBC is by far the most-shared news brand on Twitter (source: Newswhip), with its stories shared a record 2.71 million times across the month – almost 50% more than any other publisher. BBC World News global study sees surge in smartphone use for consuming news


BBC World News and bbc.com/news have released the results of the world’s first global study into the usage of mobile devices by affluent consumers. When asked which single device they prefer to use for news, the number of affluent consumers who name the mobile phone has risen by 15 per cent since 2012 and tablet is up by 9 per cent. Learn more.
